This was our fifth trip to H2 and second during January. We had an amazing time and are so impressed with all the improvements.
Normally we don't like to talk about the travel part but West Jet sucks. Our flight into Jamaica started with a 2 hour delay. The trip home was brutal. Delayed 3 hours. The check in counter was crazy and we were told we had to pay for bags a second time, had no reservation blah blah blah. Anyways, used club Mobay both ways and will always use this service. Awesome especially with unexpected delays. So once we get on the plane, sit there for another hour. 4 hour delay now. They can't figure out how to put the luggage on th plane or something crazy like that. No services on plane except for drinks. You have to pay for everything. Entertainment, blankets, pillows. Crazy. Get back home and we sit on the plane even longer because the bridge is not working. Grrrr. Anyways, bottom line is west jet doesn't really care anymore - anything to make the flight cheap.
On to the good stuff. We used Rocky's taxi service and highly recommend. Had us to the resort fast and picked us up on time. Had drinks for us, great way to start a vacation! We were impressed when we arrived at the lobby. Looks very clean and modern. Dining room is a major improvement although picking white is likely not the best choice but looks good now! Courtyard was a great idea. Brings people together and is very social. We noticed a lot of changes but ones that stand out is the prude grill. The Flame restaurant was great. Good food and nice atmosphere. We would highly recommend the crab cakes. No reservations for any restaurantS What a great idea no one wants to check there clock at hedo. More people ate in the restaurants then we have seen previous and we rarely had to wait to eat. It was efficient and quick.
Other improvements include all the washroom renovations, nude pool , main dinning and piano bar were all upgraded and very well maintained. The rock wall is completely gone as is the water slide which was weird to see at first but you get used to it. The main dining hall all new tables, which don't wobble any more, new chairs which are actually comfortable and new comfy bench seating. The main pool deck looks great and the hottest e there actually works well and was finally hot! The prude grill is much bigger and now both nude and prude grills are open til 5 am. Which is great for that late night snack.
The resort has now laid out multiple water bottle stations which is a small but one of our favourite changes. You can now grab a bottle of ice cold water anytime. And they were filled regularly. The entire resort we noticed this trip was maintained very well. The grounds were clean and maintained. The staff were constantly cleaning bathrooms. Removing plates and cups. They were surprisingly efficient and very friendly. You couldn't walk by any staff without them asking how your trip was going, or just saying hi. Service gets a 5 star from us. They worked very hard and the days of getting your own cutlery or drinks are long gone. Even when I was walking through the lobby with a coffee mug i was stopped and asked if I needed a refill. They now even have staff walking the beach offering drinks. People seemed really happy to be working there and were very responsive to the guests.
Food was a major improvement from previous years. The buffet had a lot of options and was well maintained and stocked. The ala cart restaurants were very good and the service was great. We ate at all three restaurants multiple times. Also we really love the no reservation policy. Spoke briefly to the head chef and he seemed very receptive to the guests and took a great deal of pride in his food. They served calamari on some nights which was really good they also had escargo at pastafari which was really good. There were a lot more variety of offerings and it tasted very good. The soup was also really good and we recommend it they changed it up quite often.
The rooms were fine. the ac was cold and the water hot. We had a minor issue with the toilet which to our surprise was fixed immediately and quickly. The rooms were clean the washrooms could use updating. We were in 2154 directly in front of the spa. The location was perfect close to everything right between the nude beach and the dinning hall. Awesome location. Hedo now offers a go green program which we highly recommend you will receive a go green card every time you opt into it and they do daily draws for 50$ resort credit. As well as very Friday they draw for three free nights. One of the main reason we recommend it is the fact that we won the three free nights both Friday's in a row!!so now we have six free nights to use in the future. With the go green they still clean your room but they don't replace towels or linens. You don't have to do it daily we did only a few times during our trip. Let's face it at hedo you often require new linens.
Beach was a little messy and there was plenty of sea weed but that cleared up after a few days. Loungers were a bit of a pain often held for days with out use with floats on them. With that said we still were able to find loungers with some looking and same with floats. Clothing was hit or miss. We seen lots of bikini bottoms, oh the horror!, the rule was not really enforced some people lounged on the beach with shorts and t-shirts for hours. Definitely spotty at best and needs to be more enforced. They had designated smoking areas now. So smokers have a place to go and none smokers can avoid. Since this rule we noticed less cigarette butts all over the resort. The rule was followed by most and seems to work.
We had our routine down perfect this trip. Usually started with me getting up for breakfast and then waking the wife up with some breakfast in bed. From there it was on to the beach for some relaxing sun time. The weather was good for this trip not much rain and the days were often sunny and the evenings cool and breezy. From the beach we sometimes went to the pool for late afternoon drinks and to be social. After that it was our nap time then get ready for another fun night out. The atmosphere this trip was fun. Lots of parties hosted but the groups on the prude beach. Thumps up to tomstrips and the super friends and mark maze for putting on some great dance parties that had the whole resort having a blast together. Also shout out to Kama sutra for also throwing some great parties, including hedos first colour powder party which we had a great time joining. Basically a bunch of dancing lunatics are given powder bags of different colours and all together released them. They brought in a DJ and hosted a great time for all. It was definitely something to try. All the parties were open to all no matter who or how you booked which we thought was amazing and we met a bunch of great people from all groups.
Hedo threw there usual main pool glow party which is one of our favourite nights. We had such a blast and we're glad we were there for two of them. We also tried the foam party which was a lot of fun if you haven't tried you have to do it at least once. The piano bar renovations are great. Seems more open and the smell is gone. It was a lot of fun and was really packed and rocking on some nights. Other nights it was more mellow due to the main parties being thrown. All in all there was always something to do and fun to be had. Main pool day games were fun and prizes given out. Sometimes people were hesitant to join but mark maze made a good point. "You will give a bj on the main pool bar but won't get up and join a contest" funny but true. Participation was good and everyone had fun and a good laugh.
The Ec staff was awesome and friendly. They interacted with guests and put on great shows. They even randomly gave out Hedo bucks if they thought your costume was good. The wife got some Hedo bucks on fetish night for outstanding hot little outfit!
We did our usual walk down the beach. Had lunch at firemans lobster pit which was great. Also found a little fruit stand beside firemans. Pablo the fruit guy. We highly recommend it. All local fruits and the mango was fantastic! We got in some snorkling and saw a huge fish. Even though the waves were high it was a fun trip. We also made our usual pilgirmage to booby cay which is always fun.
We met so many great people as always it's the people that make Hedo special. We met many old friends and lots of new friends. Rast, foxxyandhound, capt Morgan, luvinlife there are too many to mention everyone but it was a pleasure meeting and partying with you all. This was definetly one of our best trips and we are glad to say the resort is only getting better and better. We look forward to future improvements. I believe the next plans are to renovate the prude pool and then the nude pool area. Looking forward to seeing that completed. They were also renovating the spa while we were there it will be also used as a playroom in the evenings.
Service, staff, resort, food and atmosphere all get 5 stars. Best trip yet and looking forward to the next one!
